Alexandra's Story
I’m Alexandra Chong, founder and CEO of JACANA.
I was born and raised in Jamaica, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and
remedies of the island. I still remember the way my grandmother would reach for bush teas or local plants before anything else. That deep-rooted belief that nature knows best stayed with me long after I left home.
After years working in tech and living around the world, I felt a strong pull back to Jamaica. I wanted to reconnect with the land that raised me, and to create something meaningful. That’s how JACANA was born, from a desire to share Jamaica’s botanical richness with the world in a way that felt honest, responsible, and beautiful.
Alongside my husband, Jack, we built JACANA from the ground up, starting with our own 100-acre organic farm in the
mountains of St. Ann. Today, our products are grown, crafted, and bottled with care, using the same sun, soil, and water that nourished generations before us.
Before JACANA, I founded a women’s tech platform called Lulu. It sparked global conversations about safety and empowerment, and ultimately was acquired.
But JACANA is more than a brand to me, it’s a love of Jamaica, a love of the healing power of plants, and to a better, more conscious way of living.
My mission is simple: to make wellness real again. To invite people back to the roots. To let nature love them, just as it’s always loved us.
